how to customize the pages. Holy Angels Council has already taken
advantage of this free service and here's what their site looks like

site based on the same template

Catholic Charities of Wilmington dates back to1830, almost 40
years prior to the establishment of the Catholic Diocese of
Wilmington. At that time, numerous explosions at the DuPont
Powder mills left numerous children as orphans, with only one
parent. The Daughters of Charity, the predecessor to the
Catholic Charities of Wilmington, arrived in Wilmington and set
up an orphanage at Third and West Streets in Wilmington.
Over the past 177 years, the program, name and locations
have changed but the mission remains the same. Today,
Catholic Charities of Wilmington operates a group home, which
provides 24-hour care to children between the ages of 9 to 12
with histories of neglect, dependency, and emotional problems.
Referrals come from the State of Delaware Department of
Services for Children, Youth, and Their Families. The normal
operating capacity for the group home is up to 6 children.
The primary goal of the program is to work with the children
placed in care and their families to reduce parent/child conflict
and return the child home. Children with no families, are
placed in adoption, foster care or independent living. While in
residence the children attend school in the community and
participate in community activities. Their life in the group home
is made to feel as homelike as possible. The home is run by a
professional caring staff, dedicated to helping the children
through this difficult period in their lives.
Since December 2003, St. Thomas the Apostle Council has
developed a close ongoing relationship with the boys and
counselors of the home which is now located at Seton Villa, in
Claymont, Delaware. The Council has focused their time and
energy with the pre-adolescent children.
Over the years, the Council has hosted the children for numer-
ous activities. Since the counselors are predominantly female,
the boys have very little interaction with males. The Council
has tried to fill this void by getting to know children on a one-
on-one basis. The boys share their experiences with Knights
and the Knights are fortunate to be there to listen and provide
comfort when needed.
More help is needed and the Knights of Columbus in Delaware
is the right organization to provide the support. What the chil-
dren seek is friendship. By volunteering as a group, Knights
may establish lasting bonds with the children and serve as role
models and mentors.
If your Council would like to volunteer with the Catholic Chari-
ties of Wilmington pre-adolescent youth program, please con-
tact Patty Kulesza of Catholic Charities at (302) (302) 762-
2982 or John Grieshaber of St. Thomas the Apostle Council at
(302) 477-1970 Ext. 203.
