News for the Delaware Knights of Columbus
S T A T E D E P U T Y ' S M E S S A G E
Dear Brother Knights,
Please join me in congratulating the new Master of the District of Delaware,
Ralph L. Rossi, PSD. I am sure he will do a great job with the Fourth Degree for the
State. I'd also like to thank Bill Lawler, Immediate Past Master for all his efforts on our
behalf especially for his trip to the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Thanks also to Father Steven
Giuliano for agreeing to serve as the assistant State Chaplain under Father Philip L. Siry..
As you may already know, Delaware had the largest number of priests at this
year's Supreme Convention. We were blessed with eight of our very finest including
Bishop Saltarelli. We have enjoyed a great relationship with our clergy for many years.
Let us all unite with Brother Steve Oldiges in making Priesthood Sunday on October 29 a
most memorable day.
Brother Frank Joyce is working very hard to spread our Vocation Essay Contest
into all parish Religion Education Programs and Catholic schools.
Our Lady Queen of Peace Statue still looms very large (32 ft.) in our efforts to
raise enough money to complete this work of love. We are now down to about $30,000
needed. If your council and/or parish have not completed their collection, please do so.
Many councils and parishes have done a wonderful job. We are proud of all of the efforts
so far. If your parish has not had its collection scheduled, please contact your pastor,
showing him a copy of the Bishop's letter and a bulletin announcement to schedule the
weekend collection. If you need help or advice just call me.
We have so many more programs that require workers that I wonder where they will come from------the
PSD Scholarships, the People with disabilities (Tootsie Roll Drive), the blood drive between Christmas and New
Years and many more.
Jim Haley reminded all present at the September State Officers Meeting that we are expecting all councils
to have recruiting drives in their parishes in October. We need many more good men to help us carry the load.
There are so many worthy projects that deserve our participation.
Vivat Jesus!
