The Knights of Columbus 2006 Past State Deputies' Memorial
Scholarship raffle tickets were handed out to all Grand Knights
at the December State Council meeting. If you haven't
received yours, please contact Chairman Don Wonchoba @
(302) 798-7788.
These raffle tickets sell for $10 each and provide the
purchaser with 4 opportunities to win $10 to $25 each week for
nine weeks beginning April 7, 2006, culminating with 5
chances to win $50 to $250 at the final drawing on June 9. All
winning tickets are returned to the pot, giving purchases
multiple chances to win. That's 41 chances to win for $10!
And all profit benefits Catholic education by providing $500
scholarships to children in Delaware Catholic elementary
schools.
Many times, these scholarships are all it takes to keep a family
from having to remove their children from Catholic schools
because of budgetary constraints. No wonder this fundraiser
is Bishop Saltarelli's favorite K of C project. As the Bishop
says, "Wouldn't it be great if every Delaware Knight bought
one ticket and sold one ticket."
So many of our future Catholic leaders will benefit so much
from this project. Get your tickets now and start selling.

Membership BLITZ!
Fall may seem far away during these hazy, crazy, lazy days of
summer, but it's not too early to begin planning for the State
Membership Blitz scheduled for the Columbus Day weekend of
October 14
th
& 15
th
. Get your Blitz on the Parish calendar now,
along with Information Nights, Insurance Nights, and 1
st
De-
grees. Begin assembling a flyer to stuff in the Sunday Bulletin
or hand out after Masses. Get brochures and recruitment ma-
terials ordered from Supreme. Council Membership and Re-
tention Committees should be brainstorming now, planning a
strategy that will ensure a successful campaign. Fraternal
Benefits Advisors need to be contacted about providing a
listing of inactive insurance members in your area. A well-
planned Blitz will make for a smooth running membership drive
come October.
This year we will have a new program, Priesthood Sun-
day, to honor all of our priests. Steve Oldiges, PGK of
St. John the Beloved Council, has developed a plan that
will help us express our gratitude and respect to our
religious leaders on Priesthood Sunday in October.
Information will be provided to all Grand Knights.
At our annual State Convention in Rehoboth a resolu-
tion passed requesting that we support the completion
of Our Lady Queen of Peace Statue both financially and
with our prayers. Past State Deputy, Manuel Velez has
agreed co-ordinate an all-out effort with our councils to
bring this to fruition. It might also be noted that some
councils have already purchased a sponsor brick for a
$l,000 contribution.
Groundbreaking for the 32-ft. high stainless steel statue
was held on June 24 at Holy Spirit Parish, just off the
highway at the Delaware Memorial Bridge. Many
Knights and family members attended the 5:00 P.M.
Mass celebrated by Bishop Michael A. Saltarelli. As
approved by the delegates to the State Convention, the
State Council presented a check for $5,000 to John
Watson, Chairman of the Our Lady Queen of Peace
Statue committee, towards the cost to complete the
Statue.
Grand Knights Seminar
The Grand Knights Seminar will be held at St. Joseph Parish's
Price Hall, located on Rt. 299 and Cleaver Farms Road in Mid-
dletown, Delaware on Saturday, August 19 beginning at
8:30am. A continental breakfast will be available before the
meeting, and lunch will be served immediately after. All Grand
Knights, Deputy Grand Knights, and Financial Secretaries are
expected to attend this kick-off meeting for the new Columbian
year. A full program detailing both Supreme Council and
State Council agendas will be presented. This meeting will get
everyone on the same page working toward a successful
2006-2007 year for the Delaware Knights of Columbus. See
you there!
Tickets for our newest fundraiser have been distributed to the
Grand Knight of most Councils in the State. This can be a
great fundraiser for the State Council and individual Councils
in the State. If every Delaware Knight purchases one ticket
and sells one ticket, this will be a winning activity. If you have
not received or need more tickets contact Ralph Rossi, PSD at
(302) 492-3590.

During this Columbian year, let us pray, reflect, and live
the Charity in our lives. I would share with you Psalm
132 from the Book of Psalms of the Old Testament.
I would suggest you pray it everyday for yourselves and
your fellowman.
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to
dwell in unity.
Like the precious oil upon the head, that ran down upon
the beard, the beard of Aaron; that ran down the edge
of his robe;
It is as if dew like the dew of Hermon were falling upon
Mount Sion:
For there the Lord bestows blessing, life forevermore.
Vivat Jesus!
