Brothers:
Thank you for allowing me the honor of serving our Church, our Order, and our State as
your State Deputy. All of the State Officers, District Deputies, Program Chairmen and
Staff realize the enormity of the responsibility and challenge we share and are commit-
ted to making this the best Columbian Year possible.
I have just returned from the Organizational Meeting of State Deputies in New Haven,
CT. The theme of the meeting was "Experience of a Lifetime". Supreme Knight Carl
Anderson noted what we already know: membership in the Knights of Columbus can
be the "Experience of a Lifetime". He stressed that we must invite every eligible Catholic man and his family to
share in that experience.

Jerry E. Dawson, State Deputy
My Dear Brother Knights and Families,
Once again a new Columbian year is upon us. With each new beginning, there is a
fresh start. Many opportunities will be given to us during this Columbian year of 2006-
2007; to build up the Church, to live fraternal charity, and to strengthen our Order. We
have accomplished much in the past and we must build the future upon it.
I would like to share with you the principles of our Order: Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and
Patriotism. We have taken them in our degrees but sometimes we forget.
The first is Charity. The greatest of all the gifts the Lord has given to us. The Lord says
" Love one another as I have loved you". (Chapter 15:9-17) On this the whole law is
based. If we have not love, then we are an empty gong or a tinkling cymbal.
