The Knights of Columbus 2006 Past State Deputies' Memorial
Scholarship raffle tickets were handed out to all Grand Knights
at the December State Council meeting. If you haven't
received yours, please contact Chairman Don Wonchoba @
(302) 798-7788.
These raffle tickets sell for $10 each and provide the
purchaser with 4 opportunities to win $10 to $25 each week for
nine weeks beginning April 7, 2006, culminating with 5
chances to win $50 to $250 at the final drawing on June 9. All
winning tickets are returned to the pot, giving purchases
multiple chances to win. That's 41 chances to win for $10!
And all profit benefits Catholic education by providing $500
scholarships to children in Delaware Catholic elementary
schools.
Many times, these scholarships are all it takes to keep a family
from having to remove their children from Catholic schools
because of budgetary constraints. No wonder this fundraiser
is Bishop Saltarelli's favorite K of C project. As the Bishop
says, "Wouldn't it be great if every Delaware Knight bought
one ticket and sold one ticket."
So many of our future Catholic leaders will benefit so much
from this project. Get your tickets now and start selling.

The Santa Maria Floats Again!
It was on a cold, windy, snow-less December 3, 2005
that the Millsboro Delaware Chamber of Com-
merce Parade was held. Father Vincent R. Cappadano
Assembly # 2413 was on hand with their Columbus'
flagship Santa Maria replica float, constructed by Sir
Knight Phil Ealey, to help usher Santa into town. The
hour long parade, consisting of many community
groups, was witnessed by well over 1000 people as it
moved through town. Assembly Sir Knights promoted
the virtue of patriotism by distributing more than 600
small American flags to roadside viewers, targeting
small children, in particular.
Assembly Sir Knights participating included: Irv
Bender, John Thornton, George Stegeman, Russ Allen,
Lew Conn, Carl LoRico and Dan Serba, John Ilgenfritz,
Commander Les Babb, and Bob Welsh.
