VOL. 63 - NO. 2
Campaign for People with Intellectual Disabilities /Tootsie Roll
Drive
Grand Knights, an email was sent asking what supplies each Council needs
for the Campaign for People with Intellectual Disabilities. So far the re-
sponse has been dismal. Please respond to
martin.Reynolds@verizon.net
.
Ask your Community Director, or the campaign chairman in your council
what is needed in the way of Tootsie Rolls, aprons, and collection cans.
The campaign is a state campaign conducted by the councils. Under this
program, the state will supply all of the materials needed to conduct a suc-
cessful fund drive. The councils will supply the manpower and logistics of
how to conduct the drive in their own particular community. Upon comple-
tion of the collection, ALL of the funds collected are to be returned to the
state council. The address is Martin Reynolds, 32 Tyre Ave, Newark, DE
19711.
Upon receipt of the proceeds of your drive, the State Council will write a
check(s) to the beneficiary(ies) of your choice that provides for the needs of
people with intellectual disabilities. This check(s) will total 75% of your
council's collection. Please do not delay sending the money into the state
council while your council ponders its choice.
Many councils use the occasion of the distribution of the funds as a way of
attracting publicity to the council. The beneficiaries of collections like this
are usually happy to come to your council meeting to accept the contribution,
and to tell about their good works.
The other 25% of the total collection will be used by the state council to pay
for the expenses of the drive, such as cost of candy and aprons. Any balance
will be paid to the beneficiary of the State Council's choosing, which has usu-
ally been the Special Olympics of Delaware.
If your council is indifferent as to whom the beneficiary should be, we would
ask that you let the entire proceeds of your collection be paid with the state's
contribution to Special Olympics of Delaware.

General Agents Message
Grand Knights can also help the
Field Agent in a number of
ways. Listing the agent's name
and telephone number and put-
ting articles in your council news-
letter, reminding your members
of the Order's benefits programs
at council meetings when the
agent is not present, e
ncouraging
all new members to meet with
the agent to review all benefits
available, and providing your
agent with your most up-to-date
telephone list (this is crucial
upon the death of a member) will
go a long way toward creating a
win-win situation for both you
and your agent.
Please do not hesitate to contact
me at 26 Pacific Avenue, Bay-
ville, NJ 08721, (732) 237-0903,
or kofcmcgeehan@aol.com if I can
be of assistance to you.
