Support State Community
Programs
by Leon J. Gratkowski
As State Council 2005-2006 Com-
munity Director, I am asking each
Council recommit to supporting the
great charitable programs spon-
sored by State Council. Consider
getting involved in these activities if
your Council currently is not par-
ticipating, or stepping up participa-
tion if your Council is involved.
Past State Deputy Scholarship
Raffle provides scholarships to
Catholic elementary students in
need. Bishop Saltarelli's personal
favorite KofC activity! Commit to
purchase one ticket, and to sell one
ticket and you'll be helping a future
Catholic leader.
Program for Intellectually Chal-
lenged The "Tootsie Roll" drive is
a well known KofC Activity that
provides much help to programs for
the intellectually challenged, espe-
cially the Delaware Special Olym-
pics.
Polar Bear Plunge The Dela-
ware POLAR KNIGHTS are an-
other source of great support for the
Delaware Special Olympics. Even if
the thought a chilly February dip in
the Atlantic Ocean gets you shiver-
ing, do your part by sponsoring one
of our Polar Knights.
Pro-Life Activity The KofC is a
Pro-Life organization. Stay in-
formed of Pro-Life issues, call and
write your legislators, plan a Pro-
Life Mass and/or Rosary for your
Council, get involved in the Life
Chains.
Blood Bank Every brother
Knight can be a hero by donating
regularly to the Blood Bank. Be a
real lifesaver by arranging a Blood
Drive at your Parish.
Veteran's Affairs Visit a vet in
the VA Hospital; volunteer to take
him down to Mass. What better way
to thank them for all they gave!
And don't forget to honor World
War II vets in your families by en-
rolling their name at the WWII Me-
morial in Washington.
Seminarian Fund/RSVP
Thanks to all the councils that supported the Seminarian Fund and the Re-
fund Support Vocations Program during the 2004-2005 Columbian year.
GOOD NEWS: I have heard that the Diocese of Wilmington has accepted
five candidates for the priesthood; they will be entering the seminary in late
August. We will need continued support of the councils that have been faith-
ful to both seminarian programs, and pray that the councils that have not
participated in the past, will do so in the 2005-2006 Columbian Year. Ken
Smith, PSD, Chairman, Seminarian Fund and RSVP. REMEMBER to
PRAY for Vocations!!!

Input for the Delaware Knight
The Delaware Knight is distributed to keep our members, especially our
Grand Knights, abreast of upcoming activities and opportunities for
Service. Activity leaders are asked to look ahead and provide timely informa-

information should provide the Who, What, Where and When about the
activity.
