Grand Knights Seminar
The Grand Knights Seminar will be held at St. Joseph Parish's Price Hall, located on Rt. 299 and Cleaver Farms
Road in Middletown, Delaware on Saturday, August 20 beginning at 8:30am. A continental breakfast will be
available before the meeting, and lunch will be served immediately after. All Grand Knights and their Financial
Secretaries are expected to attend this kick-off meeting for the new Columbian year. A full program detailing both
Supreme Council and State Council agendas will be presented. This meeting will get everyone on the same page
working toward a successful 2005-2006 year for the Delaware Knights of Columbus. See you there!
State Council Sponsored Football Pool Fundraiser
Tickets for our newest fundraiser have been distributed to the Grand Knight of each Council in the State. This can
be a great fundraiser for the State Council and individual Councils in the State. If every Delaware Knight purchases
one ticket and sells one ticket, this will be a winning activity.
Membership BLITZ
Fall may seem far away during these hazy, crazy, lazy days of summer, but it's not too early to begin planning for
the State Membership Blitz scheduled for the weekend of October 15
th
& 16
th
. Get your Blitz on the Parish calendar
now, along with Information Nights, Insurance Nights, and 1
st
Degrees. Begin assembling a flyer to stuff in the
Sunday Bulletin or hand out after Masses. Get brochures and recruitment materials ordered from Supreme.
Council Membership and Retention Committees should be brainstorming now, planning a strategy that will ensure
a successful campaign. Fraternal Benefits Advisors need to be contacted about providing a listing of inactive
insurance members in your area. A well-planned Blitz will make for a smooth running membership drive come
October.
Columbus Day Monument Committee
PSD Don Wonchoba has asked that Northern New Castle County K of C councils each provide one representative to serve on
the Columbus Day Monument Committee. The committee was founded over 57 years ago with the principle backing of the
Italian-American Club; its main support now comes from the Knights of Columbus. More men are needed.
State Council is not a Council unto itself, but a State governing body made up of representatives of all the Councils in
the State. Therefore the participation of each and every Council is essential for a successful year. While each
Council has their particular parish and community activities, it is important to remember the lessons of our Degrees,
that each Council is also a part of the whole Knights of Columbus Order and has a stake in State and Supreme
activities. State meetings are held on the 2
nd
Thursday of each month, at varying locations throughout the State.
These locations are listed in the State Newsletter, on the State Yahoo e-group, and on reminders sent by the State
Deputy. Each and every Grand Knight has the responsibility to attend these meetings, or to send their Deputy
Grand Knights when need be, with their Financial Secretary. All Delaware Knights are invited and encouraged to
attend State Council meetings. Participation at State Meetings is the surest way of ensuring that you and your
Council are kept abreast of Knights of Columbus activity throughout the State of Delaware. The Installation of
State Officers and District Deputies will be in place of the July State Council Meeting. Come to the August State
meeting on August 11 at Holy Family Parish Hall, Route 4 at Gender Rd., Newark, DE at 6:45pm and start your
Council off on the right footing for the new Columbian year. Don't forget to congratulate all our new leaders and
pledge your support.
