Delaware Knight
Brother Knights and Families,
I thank all the Knights in Delaware for the trust you have placed in me. Rest assured that I
will work diligently to fulfill that trust. To our predecessor and good friends Ralph and Becky
Rossi, Ann and I thank you for your help and support, you are an outstanding example of
Catholic leadership.
I recently returned from the State Deputy training in New Haven, CT. It was in itself an
Experience of a Lifetime. The things the Knights are doing and what to do are absolutely
fantastic. I met the new Supreme Chaplain, Bishop Lori who is warm and a very approach-
able individual. He will be a strong asset to Supreme Council. Our Supreme Knight Carl
Anders
on and many of the other Officers and Director review the numerous challenges and opportunities facing the
Knights. In future issues of the Delaware Knight I will address some of these.
The most important issue we have in Delaware is the embryonic stem cell research battle in the Delaware State Leg-
islature. We as a jurisdiction need to be more committed and get better organized. The fact that SB 80 passed the
Senate by a 2/3 majority is sad for Delaware. Understand, it has been clearly stated
by Bishop Saltarelli that we
strongly endorse stem cell research but we condemn killing embryo
's to harvest stem cells, and in addition, it is
not necessary. It is doubtful this issue of the Delaware Knight will be out before this legislative session is completed.
I continue to press this issue because sitting here on June 25
th
I hear the best guess is that a definitive vote will be
put off until next legislative session, January 2006. If that is the case we need to pressure our congressmen, call
them, write them and tell them directly, if you want my support, vote against SB 80. Each of us needs to identify
how our legislators are voting and hold them accountable. I will try to help by trying to get the records and publish-
ing them. This is not partisan politics this is voting you
r faith. If you want a sample letter or if you need the address
or telephone number of your congressman, call me at 737-7364.
Together WE CAN make a difference,

State Deputy's Message
July - September 2005
State
Chaplain's Message
At Mass one of the memorial acclamations prays "when we eat this bread and drink this
cup we proclaim the death of the Lord Jesus until He comes in glory".
Brothers, let the Holy Eucharist be for us our strength and nourishment in our pilgrim-
age of life, let it be the peace and unity it signifies and let it always be our oneness with
Christ as we show forth His love to all men.
By following our calling and living the Christian life to the fullest we are following God's
will in our daily lives. We pray that we may show His love and concern for others in our
daily life. We ask God to bless our endeavors and us, as we begin this new Columbian
year.
Vivat
Jesus!
